Benevolence
Objective
To help those in physical need - both local members and non-members - as well as transients who have temporary needs. Pre-plan for responses to help in crisis developments both locally and in foreign fields.
Scope and Method of Accomplishing
Establish a committee to physically provide the needs once the Deacon has determined the degree of help to be given.
Teach through fliers, pamphlets, Bible study courses, etc. those who accept the help of the Church.
Collect, store and plan items to have available for these needs.
Provide meals, gasoline, and overnight lodging for transients as deemed appropriate by the Deacon.
Coordinate aids for children's homes supported by the Church; and determine the need for desired level of support.
Review the requests from other Ministries for benevolence that might be required in their areas.
This Ministry should coordinate with the Transportation Ministry for providing any necessary transportation for benevolence purposes.
Very close coordination with the Local Evangelism Ministry is necessary in order to reap the most possible benefits from the funds available.
The Benevolence and Local Evangelism Ministries should also initiate approaches which will show to the community the Church's concern for the needs of the community.
