Objective
Reach the wayward and lost through the use of daily prayer.
Scope and Method of Accomplishing
Establish a committee and a leader or chairperson to coordinate these activities.
Determine those who have drifted away; maintain records with additions and deletions; and assign members of the committee to offer a daily prayer for each one (by name).
Solicit names from the congregation of friends and relatives whom they would like to see converted to Christ; maintain records of activity; and assign members of the committee to offer a daily prayer for each one (by name).
Pray for specifics in both cases.
Pray for a set period of time (two or three months).
Following this period of time, have the praying committee member drop the person a personal note stating that they have been praying for them each day for the stated period of time. State why they have been offering the prayer; (i.e. for them to return to the fellowship of the church or to visit the worship service to learn of Christ, etc.) and asking if there is anything that he/she can do to assist them; (i.e. offering Bible study, transportation to Church services, do they need any specific help, etc.).
Develop the knowledge of the committee members in writing these notes. They should be short and to the point yet heartfelt and showing the greatest personal sincerity. (POWER PACKED ATTENTION GETTERS.)
Notes should be from the committee member, not from the Church, and signed by the committee member. The notes should always mention the Huntsville Church of Christ, however.
When responses are received, the praying committee member should follow up with the appropriate action as the situation dictates.
This Ministry is not for praying for the sick, however, in special situations, committees could be established on a temporary basis for this purpose.
